Unlike your fingerprints, which are unique to you and cannot be given to someone else for their use, your personal data – i.e., your social security number, your bank account or credit card number, your driver’s license number, your medical insurance number and other valuable identifying data can be “stolen” and be used by ID thieves.
Once identity thieves have your personal information, they can drain your bank account, run up charges on your credit cards, open new utility accounts, or get medical treatment on your health insurance. An identity thief can file a tax refund in your name and get your refund. In some extreme cases, a thief might even give your name to the police during an arrest.
Lean more about how identity theft happens and ways you can prevent it from happening to you at our seminar on October 24, 2017 from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. In this 90 minute NO COST session, we will discuss:
> Today’s most common ID thief’s tricks and tactics
> Spotting clues that someone has stolen your information
> Different types of ID theft, and how you can protect yourself
> Resources and tools to help you recover from ID theft
> And more!
This is an important topic that Emery Federal Credit Union is passionate about. Please feel free to bring a friend (or two) to this NO COST presentation to learn more about protecting yourself, your family and your GOOD NAME.
